SAT Design StoreLocated in Al-Qasimiyah School, SAT Design Store showcases both local and regional designers with environmentally-conscious and socially-responsible practices. The collections not only reflect our mission as a platform, but also correlate with ongoing programmes that tackle questions on sustainability and materiality. This is an effort to broaden our network of local and regional designers working on these issues and to make their work accessible to our audiences.
Re-storeBuilding on our on-going Re-materialize programme, the Triennial launched an open call in November 2021 inviting local and regional designers to propose functional products made with recycled materials for the store's inaugural collection: Re-store. Jurors Elias and Youcef Anastas, Ghassan Salameh and Nada Taryam selected six practices to take part in Re-store:
Bits to Atoms/Guillaume Crédoz, Juhi Chaand, Mohamed Rowaizak, Nour Kays, RePlaste and
Up-Fuse. The Re-store collection is an initiative to widen the conversation around material choice and how it can play an important role in ensuring a more ecologically responsible future.
SAT02 Collection This collection champions local craftsmanship, utilizing regionally sourced materials and the adaptive reuse of recycled materials. It includes exclusive creations by six designers from West Asia and the African continent: Collaborative Craft Projects (Zimbabwe), Da Brand (Nigeria), Mitimeth (Nigeria), Oolo (Nigeria), Sakeb (Palestine) and The Herd (South Africa).
The new collection complements the store’s inaugural collection, advocating for a shift towards a more environmentally responsible approach to design. It is a response to our current industrialized world, marked by the widespread overuse of unsustainable and mass-produced materials.
