For our second Re-materialize event, we are pleased to announce a panel discussion marking the release of the second series of videos for SAT Talks: Re-materialize following the founders of three architecture and design studios working with recycled materials.
Each of the four speakers from the series, architect Wael Al Awar, designer and architect Guillaume Credoz, and co-founders of Up-Fuse Yara Yassin and Lama el Khawanky, will guide us through their processes of working with recycled materials and delve into impact of their work. The speakers will be joined by interlocutor Tania Ursomarzo (Architect and Assistant Professor at American University of Sharjah) for a discussion on how recycled materials have the potential of giving designers and architects new opportunities for making an ethical and sustainable change in the field of architecture.

*CHILDREN’S WORKSHOP: Plastic Bag Weaving
In parallel to the Re-materialize Series 2 Screening and Panel Discussion, we are offering a workshop for children ages 7 and up to learn how to up-cycle plastic waste into artwork.
Led by designer Natalya Konforti of Glitches and Stitches, children will be encouraged to work with single-use plastic bags and transform the material into colorful woven art pieces, thereby giving young participants an initiation into the world of up-cycling whilst promoting dexterity through the craft and action of weaving.
Participants are recommended to bring in their own plastic bags.
