Sandhya Naidu Janardhan
Sandhya Naidu Janardhan is the Founder and Managing Director of Community Design Agency, a social enterprise that envisions an inclusive world where every human enjoys access to vibrant, safe, and healthy spaces to live, work, and play. An architect by training, Sandhya believes spatial equity is inextricably linked to dismantling systemic issues including gender, social and health inequity, climate vulnerability, economic inclusion, and identity. An architect by training, Sandhy has spent two decades cultivating processes that provide marginalized communities with an agency and voice in determining where and how they live. Her participatory methodology is rooted in intentional deep listening and empathy, democratizing access to art, architecture, and design. Licensed and educated in India, Sandhya is a graduate of Columbia University’s GSAPP. Sandhya’s previous work spans multiple countries including landscape architecture for a Singapore-based interdisciplinary design firm, and post-earthquake reconstruction in Haiti for a US-based non-profit. A recipient of the 2024-25 Berkeley Rupp Prize, the 2024 Obel Teaching Fellowship and a TED India Fellow, Sandhya currently serves on the Executive Group of Catalyst Now’s India Chapter.

سانديا نايدو جناردان مؤسِسة "وكالة التصميم المجتمعي" ومديرتها التنفيذية. تتطلع هذه المؤسسة الاجتماعية إلى عالم يسع الجميع ويكفل لكل إنسان حق الوصول إلى مساحات حيوية وآمنة وصحية للعيش والعمل واللعب. انطلاقاً من خلفيتها المعمارية، تؤمن سانديا بأن العدالة المكانية تتصل بشكل وثيق بتفكيك المعضلات البنيوية، بما في ذلك التفاوت الجندري والاجتماعي والصحي والهشاشة المناخية والإدماج الاقتصادي والهوية. على مدار عقدين من العمل، كرست سانديا جهودها لتنمية فاعلية المجتمعات المهمشة ومنحها صوتاً مسموعاً في صياغة حيزها المعيشي. تنبع منهجيتها التشاركية من الإنصات العميق والتعاطف، سعياً لدمقرطة الوصول إلى الفن والعمارة والتصميم. حصلت سانديا على تأهيلها العلمي والمهني في الهند، قبل أن تتخرج من كلية الدراسات العليا في العمارة والتخطيط والحفاظ بجامعة كولومبيا. عملت سابقاً في عدد من البلدان وتشمل خبرتها العمل بمجال هندسة تنسيق الموقع في شركة تصميم متعددة التخصصات بسنغافورة، والعمل مع منظمة أمريكية غير ربحية ضمن جهود إعادة الإعمار ما بعد الزلزال في هايتي. وهي حائزة على جائزة بيركلي روب، وزمالة أوبل للتدريس، وزميلة تيد الهند، وتعمل حالياً مع منظمة كاتاليست ناو ضمن المجموعة التنفيذية لفرع الهند.
