As part of a series of knowledge exchange workshops that aim to shape the programme, this workshop for children familiarized young members of the local community with the process of seed germination. The children were introduced to seeds of native plant species that are drought-resistant and therefore suitable to cultivate in the local arid climate of the UAE. From preparing the soil to embedding seeds in germination trays, the participants of the workshop were given the opportunity to acquaint themselves with the steps involved in providing seeds with the right conditions in which they may grow and thrive. The children then took their seed trays home to observe their development and further nurture their growth.
