SAT Tours 03: Al Qasimia
Time and Date: 4:00 pm, Saturday, March 26 2022
Meeting point: Al Mahatta Museum, Al Qasimia
At first glance, it is easy to miss that Sharjah’s central district of Al Qasimia was once the heart of a large British-controlled air base. The Royal Air Force camp was essentially disconnected from the rest of the city from 1932 till the late 1970s when it was cleared out and integrated into a growing Sharjah. In Tour 03 we visit some of the remaining fragments of the camp and trace its impact on the city’s urban pattern.
COVID-19 safety measures: Please note that in line with government health and safety guidelines, everyone is required to wear masks during the tour and keep a safe distance from others at all times.
