Nihal Halimeh
Nihal Halimeh is a Palestinian architect and urban researcher from Lebanon, currently leading the Architecture and Programmes Unit at the Sharjah Architecture Triennial. In this role, she oversees interdisciplinary projects focused on adaptive reuse, urban regeneration, and community engagement. Her work approaches architecture as a tool to engage with questions of displacement, collective memory, and sustainable, community-rooted practices.
Her professional journey includes collaborations with architecture offices in Beirut and Dubai, such as Bernard Khoury Architects and Pragma Architects and Planners, where she contributed to design and research-driven projects across various scales. Over time, she has cultivated a practice grounded in contextual sensitivity, cultural continuity, and incremental transformation of the built environment.
Her independent and collaborative work has been presented at institutions including the MAXXI Museum in Rome (Home Beirut: Sounding the Neighbours, 2017), the Oslo School of Architecture (Systemic Design RSD6, 2018), Paris Diderot University (Thinking Alternatives, 2018), and the University of Thessaly (Hommage à Beyrouth, 2018). She is also a participant in Decolonising Architecture Art Studies (DAAS) in Sharjah, a research platform dedicated to critical and situated approaches to architecture and urbanism.

نهال حليمه معمارية وباحثة عمرانية فلسطينية لبنانية، تقود حالياً قسم العمارة والبرامج في ترينالي الشارقة للعمارة. وفي هذا الإطار، تتولى الإشراف على مشاريع متعددة التخصصات تتناول إعادة التوظيف التكيُّفي والتجديد العمراني وتفعيل المشاركة المجتمعية. تنظر نهال إلى العمارة باعتبارها أداة حيوية للتفاعل مع قضايا التهجير والذاكرة الجمعية، ووسيلة لابتكار ممارسات مستدامة متجذرة في النسيج الاجتماعي.
تشمل مسيرتها المهنية العمل لدى عدد من المكاتب المعمارية في بيروت ودبي، من بينها برنارد خوري وبراغما معماريون ومخططون، حيث أسهمت في تطوير مشاريع تصميمية وبحثية متنوعة. ومع مرور الوقت، صاغت ممارسة معمارية تستند إلى حساسية عميقة تجاه السياق واستمرارية الثقافة وإحداث تحولات تدريجية في بيئة البناء.
وقد حظيت أعمالها المستقلة والجماعية بالعرض على منصات ومؤسسات مرموقة، منها متحف MAXXI في روما (معرض "الوطن بيروت: سبر الجيران"، 2017)، وكلية أوسلو للعمارة (تصميم النظام RSD6، 2018)، وجامعة باريس ديدرو (معرض "بدائل التفكير"، 2018)، وجامعة ثيساليا في اليونان (معرض "تحية لبيروت"، 2018). وهي أيضاً من المشاركات في برنامج "دراسات محو الاستعمار في العمارة والفن" (DAAS) بالشارقة، وهي منصة بحثية تُعنى بصوغ مقاربات نقدية وموضعية للعمارة والعمران.
