Vinu Daniel
Vinu Daniel completed his Bachelor of Architecture in 2005 from The College of Engineering, Trivandrum. After graduating, he worked with Auroville Earth Institute for the UNDP post-tsunami construction. Upon returning from Pondicherry in 2007, he founded Wallmakers to devote himself to a practice of sustainable and cost-effective architecture. In response to the current Global climate crisis, this is a practice that asks ‘should we build?’ And if we must build, how do we use materials that are already available at a site or from waste with an aim of building sustainable spaces that are responsive to specific contexts and conditions, maintain a balance between innovative and utilitarian designs, and create contextual dream-like spaces? Wallmakers has won many international accolades including being recognized by ArchDaily as the only Indian practice in the list of 20 Young Practices of 2020, winning 3 editions of the Design that Educates Award by the Laka Foundation-Germany, and being nominated for the Brick Award 2022 and The Royal Academy Dorfman Award 2022.

أكمل فينو دانيال درجة البكالوريوس في العمارة في عام 2005 من كلية الهندسة في تريفاندروم، الهند. وعمل بعد تخرجه مع معهد أوروفيل إيرث المخصص لأعمال البناء ما بعد تسونامي التابع لبرنامج الأمم المتحدة الإنمائي. وأسس عند عودته من مدينة بونديشيري في عام 2007 شركة Wallmakers (صنّاع الجدران) ليكرس نفسه لممارسة العمارة المستدامة ذات التكلفة الفعّالة. وتأتي هذه المبادرة كاستجابة لأزمة المناخ العالمية الراهنة، وتطرح العديد من الأسئلة المحورية في صناعة التغيير، وهي: "هل يجب أن نبني؟" وإذا كان محتمٌ علينا أن نبني، فكيف يمكننا أن نستخدم المواد المتاحة محلياً أو إعادة استخدام المواد الناتجة عن المخلفات بهدف بناء مساحات مستدامة تستجيب لسياقات وشروط محددة؟ وفي الوقت نفسه نحافظ على حالة التوازن ما بين التصاميم المبتكرة والنفعية، وبناء مساحات حالمة خاصة بالسياق العام للمكان. ومن خلال اتباع هذا النهج في العمل فقد حازت الشركة على العديد من الجوائز العالمية، كما تم الإشارة إليها في موقع ArchhDaily باعتبارها الشركة الهندية الوحيدة في قائمة 20 شركة معمارية ناشئة لعام 2020، كما حصدت ثلاث جوائز من جائزة Design that Educates التي تقدمها مؤسسة لاكا في ألمانيا، وفي عام 2022 ترشحت لجائزة بريك Brick Award، وجائزة أكاديمية دورفمان الملكية.
